Papier de couvrure légèrement usée et bords des pages légèrement salies sinon exemplaire en bon état.Cet Almanach littéraire fut édité de 1777-1793 par Pierre-Louis d'Aquin (1720-1796), rédacteur de la Semaine littér…aire et du Censeur hebdomadaire, il signe en 1790: «d'Aquin de Chateau-Lyon»; en 1792: «D'Aquin, cousin de Rabelais»; en 1793: «Rabelais d'Aquin».En 1777 l'Avertissement du premier numéro dit: «Nous offrons au public un petit répertoire où l'on réunit chaque année ce qu'on pourra trouver de plus curieux, soit dans les livres rares, soit dans les portefeuilles d'amateurs.» Dix-sept ans après, en 1793, la présentation n'a guère changé: «Almanach littéraire ou Étrennes d'Apollon pour l'année 1793 et la deuxième de la République, contenant de jolies pièces en prose et en vers, de vives réparties, de piquantes variétés, de curieuses anecdotes avec une notice des principaux ouvrages». Mais l'auteur a renoncé à donner le calendrier.A partir de 1777, d'Aquin, ce critique spécialisé et chevronné de la presse littéraire hebdomadaire semble s'être contenté du rythme annuel. Il persévère dans ce même goût pour l'anecdote, touchant les écrivains, la poésie, le ton mondain qu'il manifestait dans la Semaine littéraire ou le Censeur hebdomadaire.Seul son dernier Avertissement, au début de l'exemplaire que nous vous proposons, donne un ton plus grave qui était sans doute un adieu: «Ce petit recueil que le public a daigné accueillir depuis son apparition en 1777, est parvenu, et toujours avec succès, jusqu'au 17e tome. Le plus pur patriotisme anime et animera toujours son Auteur. Oui, malgré les pertes qu'il a essuyées dans ces temps orageux, il est resté ferme dans ses principes dédaignant toute vue d'intérêt contraire à son pays. Photographer's rubber stamp and light black ink manuscript annotations on the verso. This photograph originates from a meeting hel…d in support of Henri Langlois, founder and director of the influential Cinematheque Francaise. In 1968 French culture minister Andre Malraux attempted to stop funding for the Cinematheque, which would ostensibly have ousted Langlois, thus igniting a series of heated protests. Renowned directors and film fans worldwide expressed their support of the institution including Renoir, Godard, Rouch, and Daquin as seen here. Though compromises were made, the show of support forced Malraux reinstate Langlois. 9.25 x 11.75 inches. Near Fine.
