Der spanische Priester und Historiker Juan de Ferreras (auch Johan von Ferreras) verfasste mit der Historie Spaniens sein Hauptwerk, welches gemessen an den verwendeten Quellen und Umfang zu dieser Zeit unvergleichlich war. Im 18. Jhd. wurde de Chronik in mehrer Sprachen übersetzt - vorliegend hier die erste und einzige deutsche Ausgabe, die in Halle von der Druckerei Gebauer verlegt wurde - ohne die Bde. 12 und 13, welche erst 1769 bzw. 1772 erschienenen. Die großformatigen Faltkarten ergänzen den Text zusätzlich und zeigen u.a. die iberische Halbinsel und den Mittelmeerraum.
