Three first editions of works illustrated by prolific mid twentieth century illustrator Edward Ardizzone, including poems by Robert Lou…is Stevenson, and two touching children"s novels. In the publisher"s original cloth, with Minnow and Likely in the original unclipped dust wrappers, and Home in the original clipped dust wrapper. All three volumes contain Ardizzone"s in-text illustrations throughout, as well as the dust wrapper designs. Edward Ardizzone was a war artist and a prolific children's illustrator, the first artist to win the prestigious Kate Greenaway medal in 1957. - Minnow on the Sea, following the adventure of two boys trying to find treasure on the Cambridgeshire river. A. Phillipa Pearce"s first novel. (Geoffrey Cumberlege, 1955).- A Likely Place, a novel focusing on a boy running away from home and trying to escape parental pressures, written by Paula Fox. (Macmillan, 1967).- Home From Sea, Robert Louis Stevenson"s poems for young readers chosen and introduced by Ivor Brown. (The Bodley Head, 1970). In the publisher"s original cloth, with Minnow and Likely in the original unclipped dust wrappers, and Home in the original clipped dust wrapper. Externally, Minnow and Home with minimal marks, with white marks to extremities of Likely, heaviest to head and tail of front joint. Bumping to the heads and tails of the spines, and to the extremities, lighter to Home, and minor edgewear. Dust wrappers are generally bright and clean with slight signs of browning, mostly to front wrapper extremities. Heavy fading to top edge of Minnow, and to bottom edge, slightly lighter to wrapper spine. Slight wrapper edgewear, and a small chip to tail of wrapper spine of Likely. Brown offsetting marks to end paper hinges of Likely, and the odd faint spot to Minnow end papers. Home end papers bright and clean. Internally, firmly bound, with minor wear to first couple hinges of Likely. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good. Edward Ardizzone (ilustrador). book.
