Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. 3rd Edition. Text in English and German. 231 pp. Photographs supply the best evidence for historical pictures and are first class documents. This kind of evidence is hardly achieved by other documents for in 1/100 sec. the photographer captures the event for all times. Particularly photographic documents are bringing back an epoch to those who personally experienced it and are making it real for following generations. It may be a challenge as well as a confirmation Events should be recalled to mind otherwise they can fall into oblivion. In particular younger generations react more readily to pictures (illustrations) than to text. Certainly manipulation of photographs is possible but that is not the case with those published in this book, as they show mercilessly the reality. It is worth mentioning that photographs taken in those days by German war correspondents suffer from the lack of technical perfection. Film material as well as developer were of low standards and cannot be compared with those from nowadays. Nevertheless we believe it to be necessary to present these unique documents to the general public.…
