Añadir al carritoTaschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Beyond Brain Death offers a provocative challenge to one of the most widely accepted conclusions of contemporary bioethics: the position that brain death marks the death of the human person. Eleven chapters by physicians, philosophers, and theologians present the case against brain-based criteria for human death. Each author believes that this position calls into question the moral acceptability of the transplantation of unpaired vital organs from brain-dead patients who have continuing function of the circulatory system. One strength of the book is its international approach to the question: contributors are from the United States, the United Kingdom, Liechtenstein, and Japan. This book will appeal to a wide audience, including physicians and other health care professionals, philosophers, theologians, medical sociologists, and social workers.

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: new. Hardcover. Die Studie enthaelt u. a. bislang unbekannte Archivabbildungen zum Religionsunterricht des jungen Thomas Mann am Katharineum zu Luebeck (18891894).The study examines the interplay of religion and narrative technique in Manns early and middle literary works. Following Friedrich Nietzsches God is dead, religion and narration form an increasingly dynamic connection in Thomas Manns thinking and writing. This connection, however, has hardly been accorded any attention at all up to this time. Yvonne Nilges finally analyses this very relation, also shedding new light on Thomas Manns religious education at the Katharineum in Luebeck (18891894). The book includes archival illustrations that have been unknown in scholarship so far. Das Verhaeltnis von (Kunst-)Religion und Erzaehlkunst in den Muenchner Werken Thomas Manns Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.
