Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book, an extract from a larger text, examines the importance of the fisheries of Japan, their influence on and relation to Japanese culture, the industry, and trade. The author takes care to provide nuance to the Western understanding of Japanese culture and the role fish play in…the lives of Japanese people. The writer emphasizes the great variety of seafood in Japan and the many ways in which it is used: as food, fertilizer, and even in the production of glue and wax. Traditional techniques such as the use of cormorants and traps alongside rod and line fishing are discussed. The book also considers the potential health benefits of seafood and traditional Japanese methods of fish-related cuisine. By exploring these diverse aspects, this book opens readers' eyes to a world of fishing and gastronomy beyond their expectations. It positions Japanese fisheries and culinary practices within a broader global context, inviting readers to consider the diverse and integral role of fishing in human life and culture. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
