The contributors investigate embodied rhetorics through the lenses of race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, disability and pain, technologies and ecologies, clothing and performance, and scent, silence, and touch. In doing so, they challenge the (false) notion that academic knowledge-that is, "real" knowledge-is disembodied and therefore presumed white, middle class, cis-het, able-bodied, and male. This collection lays bare how myriad bodies invent, construct, deliver, and experience the processes of knowledge building.   Experts in the field of writing studies provide the necessary theoretical frameworks to better understand productive (and unproductive) uses of embodied rhetorics within the academy and in the larger social realm. To help meet the theoretical and pedagogical needs of the discipline, Bodies of Knowledge addresses embodied rhetorics and embodied writing more broadly though a rich, varied, and intersectional approach. Da die Nachfolgegeneration der römischen Staatsmänner als Adressatenkreis identifiziert worden ist, soll analysiert werden, inwiefern speziell hierauf argumentiert wird.Aus der ausgiebigen Illustration seiner Argumente mit Zitaten und exempla ergibt sich der zweite Teil. Callicratides, Q. Maximus und Pompeius sind nur einige der Namen, die Cicero als Beispiele in seiner Darstellung der magnitudo animi von Panaitios übernimmt oder selbst aufzählt, während andere, die zum Beispiel Aristoteles in diesem Zusammenhang anführt, keine Erwähnung finden. Selbstverständlich kann es sich bei einem Autor wie Cicero nicht um bloßes 'name-dropping' handeln.Aus diesem Grund muss untersucht werden, wer als exemplum angeführt wird, wie das entsprechende Beispiel in die Stelle passt und was der Leser daraus (an Einsichten) gewinnen kann. Hierbei wird unterschieden zwischen griechischen und römischen exempla, wobei Cicero sich selbst als Vorbild für seinen Sohn zwei Paragraphen widmet. Ein weiterer interessanter Punkt ist die ausgiebige Verwendung von Zitaten, die seiner Argumentation Anschaulichkeit verleihen.
