This study extrapolates it amidst the affiliation of fantasy and image theory. The equality of reason and fantasy, resp. rationality and creativity, as established in the early work, corresponds to the relationship of concept and image as forms of communicative representation in Schleiermacher s later work.In the first part, Firchow reconstructs the justification of fantasy as »individual reason« within the contemporary context of German Idealism. The second part contains a systematic statement of the basic functions of figurative representation in the context of a Platonic »image-anthropology«, which can be connected to fundamental aspects of the recent »iconic turn«. The theological relevance of the topic culminates in issues concerning the origin of the idea of God and the visualization of the »image of the Redeemer« which is considered to be a core element within the essential determination of Christianity. 312 pp. Deutsch.…
