Signed by Thomas Melady on the blank first front end paper 'Nov 4,1976, with best wishes, Tom Melady'. He was a former ambassador to Uganda. At the time of the writing of this book he was Executive Vice President of St. Joseph's College. I've rated both the book and the dust jacket Near Fine. The covers of the book itself are in just about perfect condition (there is a crease off the bottom of the front cover just adjacent to the spine. I don't see any wear on the edges, the corners or the spine ends. Front, spine and back are spotless. The black lettering on the spine is as new. Actually the entirety of the covers has an as new appearance. The interior of the book is in excellent condition. First of all, the book is very solidly bound, absolutely no issues in that regard, very tight pages. Next, the pages are exceptionally clean, as in I didn't see any soiling at all. And they appear to be in perfect condition, without any creasing or dogeared corners. There aren't any attachments in the book. With the exception of the author's signed inscription, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. There is, on the first front end paper at the bottom, (see photo of signed page) a raised circular (two circles) seal which reads on the inner circle 'Corporate Seal 1963 Connecticut' and on the outer circle 'Sacred Heart University Incorporated'. That is the only marking in the book. You can see the dust jacket in the first three photographs. It is also in excellent condition, also rated Near Fine. It is very clean. It doesn't have any tears. It is NOT price-clipped. It will be fitted with a protective cover. From the front dust jacket flap 'On August 4, 1972, General Idi Amin Dada, President of Uganda, announced that he had been told in a dream to order the expulsion of all Asians who were not Ugandan citizens. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1947, then graduated from Duquesne University in 1950 (B.A.) and The Catholic University of America in 1955 (M.A., Ph.D.). He was an adjunct professor at St. John's University and president of the Africa Service Institute in New York City, from 1959 to 1967. From 1966 to 1969 he was adjunct professor at Fordham University. A former consultant for the National Urban League in New York and chairman of Seton Hall University, he was appointed by President Richard M. Nixon as Ambassador to Burundi in 1969, Senior Advisor to the US delegation to the UN General Assembly in 1970, and Ambassador to Uganda from 1972 to 1973.
