Boards have a ring stain to the front panel which also has a few small surface marks. There is some rubbing and fraying to the corners of the boards and at the top and bottom of the spine. Browning to the page edges. There is a four inch closed tear running up from the bottom edge of page 223 and half-inch closed tears at the top edge of pages 135 and 137. There is a slight trace of a price in pencil to the front free endpaper and the pages are browned but otherwise clean and unmarked. No jacket . Illustrated by Bartram Prance.

There is a half inch closed tear at bottom of front panel with some associated creasing and two small closed tears to the top of the spine. There is a one inch closed tear to the bottom edge of the rear panel and a tiny nick to the top edge. The rear panel is a little discoloured. Illustrated by Bartram Prance.
