D'Ora, die das Photographenhandwerk u.a. von Hans Makart und Nicola Perscheid lernte, eröffnete 1907 ihr Wiener Atelier. Bald war es eines der bedeutendsten Ateliers der Stadt, sie fertigte Portraits für die Bedürfnisse der Wiener Gesellschaft…, des Adels und der Künstler- und Intellektuellenszene an. Auch als Modephotographin schuf sie sich einen Namen und pflegte enge Kontakte zur Modeabteilung der Wiener Werkstätte. 1927 gab sie ihr Wiener Atelier an ihren Studiomitarbeiter Arthur Benda ab und übersiedelte nach Paris, wo sie seit 1925 bereits ein zweites Studio betrieb und ihren Ruf als Gesellschafts-, Mode- und Künstlerphotographin weiter ausbauen konnte. So war sie u.a. die bevorzugte Photographin Maurice Chevaliers und portraitierte Coco Chanel, Marlene Dietrich, Josephine Baker u.v.a. Nach dem deutschen Einmarsch gab sie ihr Pariser Atelier auf und floh als bedrohte Jüdin nach Südfrankreich, wo sie sich bis Kriegsende versteckt hielt. Nach dem Krieg ging sie nach Österreich zurück und photographierte im zerstörten Wien und in Flüchtlingslagern. Bedeutend ist auch ihr völlig gegensätzliches Spätwerk mit ihren Aufnahmen aus den Pariser Schlachthöfen. Sprache: de.

The review is quite positive and enthusiastic, one passage reads, in part, "His book is not alone an admirable work of art and thought; it is also a cry of revolt: it is the desire of a new artist to look upon the world with other eyes, to bring to the front his individual theories and to compel a listless public to reflect that there are another literature and another esthetic apprehension beyond those foisted upon us.".
