Next, Prendergast became 3d secretary and Vice consul at the United States Foreign Service in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from 1947 to 1950. Thereafter, he as a correspondent of Time magazine, New York City, from 1950 until his retirement in 1977. Prendergast is well known for his books "The First Aviators", "Easy Gardens", co-authored with Donald Wyman, and "The World of Time Inc.: The Intimate History of a Changing Enterprise", co-authored with Geoffrey Colvin.
