The work considers how Brandeis's legal and social principles applied to the modern development of society, particularly concerning industrial and economic situations. An insightful anonymous contemporary review in the Boston Transcript notes: "The papers are primarily the work of a great lawyer. His work is considered to have a tremendous effect upon not only the body of law already assimilated and codified but also upon the law which is being called into being in response in response to the modern development of society, particularly as regards the industrial situation." Original rare DJ with $4.50 price intact on flap. Book is tight. Binding and hinges are strong and sound. Book is near fine with only a slight scuff on front panel near bottom corner. A beautiful copy of the first edition, first printing in its rare, original DJ. In regard to Justice Brandeis, aside from legendary justice status, he is best remembered as a champion of social reform, legal innovation, and a Zionist lion, whose concepts of free speech and privacy still resonate today. These are his thoughts on society in general, along with his economic views.
