Gottfired Less [1736-1797] was born in Polish Prussia, educated in theology at the Universities of Halle und Jena. He became a professor of theology at the Akademischen Gymnasium Danzig, and then at the University of GÃ ttingen, where he was made Doktor der Theologie in 1766. In 1784, he was named as head of the faculty [Primarius] at GÃ ttingen. A nicely preserved copy of this classic of Lutheran theology, with minor foxing and toning scattered throughout. Three old owner's signatures on the front (blank) free-endpaper (one dated 1792), otherwise no marks in the text.
