Comprising "Richard Plantagenet", "The Cave of Morar, the Man of Sorrows", "The Battle of Floddon", "The Hermit of "Warkworth", and "Hardyknute". The Bewick illustration is the title page engraving. 3-7/8" x 6-5/16", vi + 236pp. Printed on acidic paper and bound in sewn signatures. Board cover has almost completely come away from the book block, the back panel accompanies the book but the front panel is lost. The tooled leather spine is still attached, but not firmly. (In other words: the book needs to be re-bound.) Maroon? top edge tinting is dulled and age discolored, and the fore and bottom edges are also age discolored. Binding is square and tight. Exposed half title page is foxed and lightly soiled, and two previous owners' names are written, one in ink and dated 1841, and beneath that, a later owner's name in pencil. Minor edge wear to book block. The pages are evenly age toned, but clean and unmarked. Thomas Bewick (ilustrador).…

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the concept of poetic drama, a form of theater that employs verse to convey profound themes and emotions. The author argues that poetic drama has fallen out of fashion in recent times, largely due to the assumption that it is incapable of adaptation to the tastes and interests of contemporary audiences. However, the author believes that this assumption is unfounded, and that poetic drama can be successfully revived and adapted to modern sensibilities. The author draws upon examples from throughout the history of drama, from ancient Greece to the present day, to illustrate how poetry can be used to enhance dramatic storytelling. Ultimately, the author presents a compelling argument for the enduring value and relevance of poetic drama, asserting that it has the potential to offer audiences a transformative and deeply moving experience. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

paperback. Condición: Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing, fanning, inscriptions, margin notes, yellowing, staining on edge or cover or pages, bumps, scuffs, etc etc (sometimes multiple of these). It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.…
