Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. 1st Edition. First Edition (Number Line to 1, 'First published 2002'). This book came from the personal library of the renowned sociologist Daniel Bell. He did not write his name or make any markings in the book. He did contribute one of the essays in Part III. It's titled Total History and Micro…history: The French and Italian Paradigms. It runs 15 pages. You can see the green covers in the photos. They're perfectly clean. The silver lettering on the spine is nicely bright. The covers have only light wear, the typical crinkling at the spine ends, a light scratch under the front top corner, a tiny crease just off the top edge of the front side of the spine, a crease above the rear bottom corner, and some light green spotting on the top page edge (none of which migrated onto the actual pages). The cover edges, including the top ones, are perfectly bright and free of rubbing or wear. The corners look very good as well. The middle and bottom page edges are very clean. The book is square and the spine is straight. The front cover makes a little crinkling sound when you close it (if it's opened very widely). Both front and rear covers are very solidly bound, without issue. All the pages in the book are very solidly bound, nicely tight throughout. The inside covers and end papers are maroon. They are very clean and free of any wear. The pages are very bright, no toning. Scrolling through, I'm not finding any instances of soiling. A few pages have a tiny nick just off their bottom edge, nothing much of anything. There are no tears anywhere. There are no conspicuous creases, no placeholder creases. Scrolling through, I saw only a few light creases. There are no markings. No attachments of any kind. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. There are four sections in the book: Part I is titled The Pre-Modern Origins of Western Historical Thought; Part II is titled The Shaping of Modern Western Historical Thought; Part III is titled Patterns in Twentieth-Century Western Historical Thought; and Part IV is titled Challenges to the Boundaries of Western Historical Thought. In total there are twenty-four essays by twenty-four writers, not including the Introduction.
