Añadir al carritopaperback, very good almost fine condition, 217pp. J R Ackerely, author of five extraordinary books, lived and equally extraordinary life. Indeed, much of his life found its way into his books, notably Hindoo Holiday, My Dog Tulip, and the startling memoir My Father and Myself. It was a life full of contradictions. Outwardly Ackerely was the respected Literary Editor of the Listener and a distinguished author. Privately he was a promiscuous homosexual. In many ways the relationship with his sister Nancy resembles a love affair - though one full of resentment and jealousy on her side and exasperation and guilt on his - and his private diaries [ here published in paperback for the first time] chronicle the affair with Ackerley's usual unflinching detail. They are as outrageously frank, as heart-breakingly moving, and as beautifully written as any of Ackerely's other books.
