Añadir al carritoMagazine. 84p. including covers 8.5x11 inches, articles, features, reviews, listings, illustrated with b&w photos and ads, wraps worn, old price sticker on front wrap, a few small stains on rear wrap, else very good semi-glossy entertainment magazine in stapled pictorial wraps. Ringling Bros & Barnum & Bailey Circus. "Death in Venice" fashions. Sally Kellerman pre and post-"M.A.S.H." Interview with twin playwrights Anthony and Peter Shaffer. The numbering of the volumes is illogical in the beginning years up to about 1971. "After Dark" was originally "Ballroom Dance Magazine" which ended with its volume 9, #4. The new magazine's first issue continued the numbering of the previous magazine and so issue #1 is stated as volume 10, #1. By the third year of the magazine they changed the numbering from volume 13 to volume 3, #9. A fine magazine of arts, stage, dance and music that bridged the gap between gay and straight readers in the 1970s-80s.

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: As New. Estado de la sobrecubierta: As New. Taylor, Leigh (jacket design); Jaffe, Deborah (jacket photograph); Mercer, Alan (author photograph) Ilustrador. 1st Edition. As new condition red boards, black spine, and red spine lettering contained in an as new condition non price-clipped photographic dust jacket. Includes Author Dedication; Preface; Prologue: Just a Small Town Girl; Acknowledgments and Index. Illustrated with a section of black-and-white photographic plates. "Indulge yourself with this witty and compelling ride through her dreams, tribulations, stumbles, and memories. Once you start the journey with Sally, there's no turning back." -- Lily Tomlin. "Sally Kellerman is an American original. She's the girl who wore her slippers to the market. Read My Lips is a sexy, funny, honest, and sometimes heartbreaking memoir that takes the rader right into the present. It's totally human, and you have to love it." -- Elliott Gould. "Make Sally's acquaintance . She's touching, warm, funny, and ever so honest! . a real treat!" -- Dyan Cannon. "The iconic "Hot Lips Houlihan" of Robert Altman's M*A*S*H chronicles growing up in -- and alongside -- Hollywood, from the reign of Marlon Brando and Steve McQueen to the celebrity culture of today. Sally Kellerman earned an Academy Award nomination for her brilliant comic turn in M*A*S*H. The nearly six-fee-tall, sultry-voiced blonde has always defied typecasting, becoming an indelible presence on-screen and working with stars as diverse as Alan Arkin, Laurence Olivier, Bud Cort, Tony Curtis, John Gielgud, Elliot Gould, Sissy Spacek, and Rodney Dangerfield. She is as at home onstage as she is in front of a camera, and toured nationally as a lauded cabaret singer. Read My Lips traces Kellerman's career -- launched in Jeff Corey's famous acting class, where she trained with an array of stars-in-the-making including friend Jack Nicholson -- as well as her colorful life. A native Angeleno, she came of age in small-town Hollywood, waitressing at a coffee shop that was a hangout for Brando, McQueen, and Warren Beatty. In the early '60s, Hollywood was a tiny town, full of chance encounters. While she watered her lawn one morning in her bathrobe, her new neighbor Ringo Starr stopped by in his convertible, inviting her to visit; through her friend actress Jennifer Jones, she met Henry Kissinger. She was a lifelong friend and casting favorite of legendary director Robert Altman. Through the years there were career highs and lows, along with drugs, affairs, diets, star-studded group therapy, marriages, unexpected motherhood, and rebirth as a recording artist. Kellerman's rise to fame parallels Hollywood's own growth from a neighborhood ringed by orange groves and dotted with landmarks like space-age Goggie's restaurant and the hat-shaped Brown Derby, to the glittering, if more homogenized, industry boomtown it is today. Inspiring, poignant, and often hilarious, Sally Kellerman's story is a paean to the power of reinvention. As she says: "Won't Hollywood be great once it's finished? Won't we all?" -- from the inner front jacket flap.
