Zustand: Textbltter gebrunt und stellenweise mit Tintenflecken (siehe Photos). Die Tafeln fast durchgngig sauber (siehe Photos). - Condition: Text leaves browned and in places with ink stains (see photos). The plates almost throughout clean (see photos). - Beide Werke zeichnen sich durch groáe Genauigkeit und Feinheit der Farbgebung aus. Jean Anker konstatiert fr das Vogelbuch: "This atlas was issued in ten parts, Parts 1-9 each containing six, Part 10 eight, hand-coloured plates. The preface is dated May, 1846, the dedication June, 1846. The text (printed 1846) contains a list of the 270 species vernacular names, bionomial names being also given, togehther with information about their occurence in Scandinavia, and reference to the page in S. Nilssons's 'Skandinavisk fauna', 1835 (364 [Band I, 264!], note), in which the particular species is referred to. The figures are arranged in the same sequence as that in which the birds are mentioned in Nilsson?s work" (Anker 271). Dies nimmt jedoch kaum Wunder, denn der Buchforscher Claus Nisssen weiá zu berichten, dass "Magnus K"rner, ein vielbeschftigter Illustrator, der wie sein Lehrer Anders Arvidson Universittszeichenlehrer in Lund war und dort 1831 die erste lithographische Presse errichtete, [?] in einem eigenen Werk 'Skandinaviska foglar', 1839-1846, [?] und fr Sven Nilssons 'Illuminerade Figurer til Skandinaviens fauna', 1829-1840, viele gute Darstellungen geliefert" (Nissen, Vogelbcher (IVB), S. 55) hat. Zudem sind im Sugetierband zahlreiche der schwedischen Tiere zum ersten Mal abgebildet worden (vgl. Bj"rn Dal: Sveriges Zoologiska Litteratur.
