They all signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. The ten photographers were some of the surviving and most distinguished graduates of ID at the time of the book's publication. It is not an exaggeration to say that their signatures represent a permanent trace of the Institute of Design, their deceased colleagues, and a whole era of American photographic history. Fifteen years later, in 2017, many of them (notably Ishimoto, Metzker, Jachna, and Sterling) have since died. This title is a contemporary art photography classic.
