Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: Very Good Indeed. None Ilustrador. A very scarce pamphlet discussing the 'Articles of the True Faith', from the Muggletonian movement, written by John Saddington and published in 1880. Very Scarce, Second Impression. In the original paper wraps. This is a wonderfully presented religious pamphlet by John Saddington, 'an ancient believer', which contains forty-eight articles of Muggletonian scripture. This pamphlet was said to have been originally printed in 1830, with this second impression printing in 1830.This work is written in the style of a personal credo and was written in order to 'disprove all depisers' by elaborating upon mocked Muggletonian beliefs. These included not acknowledging God, as well as the 'glorious resurrection', or second death, that awaited humans once they died.John Saddington (1634-1679) was a Muggletonian writer and London merchant. Saddington was one of the original members of the Muggletonian movement, having made friends with John Reeve and Lodowick Muggleton after reading 'A Transcendent Spirituall Treatise'.Collated, complete. In the publisher's original paper wraps. Externally, very smart. A bit of age-toning to the margins of wraps and a few marks. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout with the odd spot to the first few pages of the text. Very Good Indeed. book.

Añadir al carritoFirst edition. 122pp. Uncut and unopened in original publisher's blue paper wrappers. Rubbed and marked, with slight loss to head and foot of spine. Very occasional light spotting. The first edition of a curious theological treatise by John Saddington (c.1634?â"1679), early Muggletonian writer and one of the first followers of the small Protestant sect. His 'Prospective-Glass' is notable for being one of the few Muggletonian books addressed to non-believers, as the religion disavowed Evangelism; its teachings espouse typically Muggletonian ideas, among them the rejection of worldly riches, the existence of God as a finite, bodily being, and a vitriolic disillusionment with reason, which is viewed as a cheap human trick stemming from selfish desire and insecurity. Size: 8vo.
