Paperback. Condición: Good. A retired Episcopal priest, who has had life-long associations with Quakers, interprets Christianity terms of MYSTICISM. He bases his rejection of traditional Christian theology on reasons similar to those of the early Quakers' repudiations of Catholicism, Calvinism and Anglicanism. Scripture, through legends, myths and parables may offer inspiration, but it cannot be taken literally. Doctrines and creeds presume a human-like God dwelling up in the heavens. They claim that Jesus was the son of that God and a human mother. Prayer is expressed as begging that God to manipulate earthly events according to human desires. That all is Olympian mythology. God is within every person, every object and in all of existence. This is called Panentheism. Quakers refer to God within every person as The Inner Light. Mankind, therefore, is basically good, and did not fall from divine grace, needing Jesus as a sacrifice to appease an angry God. God is love. The man, Jesus of Nazareth, was a supreme, human manifestation of divine love. God can be experienced through direct revelation. Through meditation, we are guided in ways to act in love for all others and respect for all existence. That leads to moral demands for justice, equality, inclusion, non-violence and peace. We are empowered by the presence of God within us. God is experienced mystically in many religions and cultures. Faith must be reinterpreted as mystical experiences. The author now is a member of the Religious Society of Friends.…

Hardback. Condición: Very Good. In his bestselling book QBQ! The Question Behind the Question, John G. Miller revealed how personal accountability helps to create opportunity, overcome obstacles, and achieve goals by eliminating blame, complaining, and procrastination. The result? Stronger organizations, more dynamic teams, and healthier relationships. Now Miller takes readers to the next level to show how they can use the power of the QBQ! and personal accountability every day. When a light switch is flipped the flow of energy that is released reaches the lightbulb in an instant, bringing it to life. Similarly, asking the right kind of question-a QBQ-is the first step to empowering what Miller calls the Advantage Principles-five essential practices that will lead to a richer experience in every aspect of life: - LEARNING: live an engaged and energized life through positive personal growth and change - OWNERSHIP: attain goals by becoming a solution-oriented person who solves problems - CREATIVITY: find new ways to achieve by succeeding "within the box" - SERVICE: build a legacy by helping others succeed - TRUST: develop deep and rewarding relationships With compelling real-life stories and keen insights, Miller demonstrates how anyone can find success and satisfaction by "flipping the switch.".…

Paperback. Condición: Fair. The lack of personal accountability is a problem that has resulted in an epidemic of blame, victim thinking, complaining, and procrastination. No organization--or individual--can successfully compete in the marketplace, achieve goals and objectives, provide outstanding service, engage in exceptional teamwork, or develop people without personal accountability. John G. Miller believes that the troubles that plague organizations cannot be solved by pointing fingers and blaming others. Rather, the real solutions are found when each of us recognizes the power of personal accountability. In QBQ The Question Behind the Question(R), Miller explains how negative, ill-focused questions like Why do we have to go through all this change? and Who dropped the ball? represent a lack of personal accountability. Conversely, when we ask better questions--QBQs--such as What can I do to contribute? or How can I help solve the problem? our lives and our organizations are transformed.THE QBQ PROMISEThis remarkable and timely book provides a practical method for putting personal accountability into daily actions, with astonishing results: problems are solved, internal barriers come down, service improves, teams thrive, and people adapt to change more quickly. QBQ is an invaluable resource for anyone seeking to learn, grow, and change. Using this tool, each of us can add tremendous worth to our organizations and to our lives by eliminating blame, victim-thinking, and procrastination. QBQ was written more than a decade ago and has helped countless readers practice personal accountability at work and at home. This version features a new foreword, revisions and new material throughout, and a section of FAQs that the author has received over the years.…

Paperback. Condición: Good. In a world riddled with disappointment, malice, and tragedy, what rationale do we have for believing in a benevolent God? If God is all-powerful and all-loving, why is there so much evil in the world? John Stackhouse takes a historically informed approach to this dilemma, examining what philosophers and theologians have said on the subject and offering reassuring answers for thoughtful readers. Stackhouse explores how great thinkers have grappled with the problem of evil--from the Buddha, Confucius, Augustine, and David Hume to Martin Luther, C. S. Lewis, and Alvin Plantinga. Without brushing aside the serious contradictions posed by a God who allows incurable diseases, natural disasters, and senseless crimes to bring misery into our lives, Stackhouse asks if a world completely without evil is what we truly want. Would a life without suffering be a meaningful life? Could free will exist if we were able to choose only good? Stackhouse examines what the best minds have had to say on these questions and boldly affirms that the benefits of evil, in fact, outweigh the costs. Finally, he points to Christian revelation--which promises the transformation of suffering into joy--as the best guide to God's. …
