This volume commences at page 269 as a continuation from content of that bound as Volume 2. This is the remainder of The Animal Kingdom, Section III, Zoology and ends at page 468. Section IV Ethnology (pp.469-500). This is followed by The Vegetable Kingdom: Section V, Botany including Economic Botany (pp.501-686), Section VI, Chrystallography (pp. 687-778), Section VII, Mineralogy (pp. 779-810), Section VIII, Geography (pp. 811-904), Section IX, Geology (pp. 905-966), Section X Applied Geology (pp. 967-1040). Contents are generally clean though some pages have some marks and there is some marginal damage to the frontispiece, creases to front end-papers. The binding is worn but firm.
