Bound in leather with gilt lettering and decoration. With two engraved plates, and a fold-out map. The fold-out map is missing the top third. The plates are engraved by Mr. John Dadley, from original designs of Mr. W. M. Craig. Includes an Alphabetical Catalogue of Names, Plants, Flowers, Fruits, Birds, Beasts, Insects, and Other material Things mentioned in the four Books of this Poem. Author Information from COPAC. Not widely held in UK institutions. Little is known about James Templeman except that he published three volumes of verse between 1808 and 1810. The binding is tight and firm. The hinges are only just starting and still firm. There is wear to the extremities, including rubbing and edge wear, prominent to the spine, with ink marks to the front board. Internally the pages with browning and foxing. There is an ink inscription to the front blank, and red ink marks to the rear free-endpaper. Good Only. book.

In the original publisher's paper-covered boards, printed paper label on front cover: "Rural Tales & Poems; In Imitation of Bloomfield. 2 Vols.-with 16 Engravings. 9s. boards. Vol. 1." Boards are moderately soiled with a few stains, very good. It would appear that only one volume was published. *OCLC* locates eight copies of this edition, and no copies of a second volume. An attractive, well-preserved copy in the original boards.
