Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. Unveiling the complex history of Strasbourg and the Alsace region, this book sheds light on the controversies surrounding its Germanic heritage and French claims. Through meticulous research and analysis, the author challenges prevailing narratives, drawing upon medieval texts and the writings of prominent figures such as Jacob Wimpfeling, Sebastian Brant, and Thomas Murner. The book delves into the interplay between religion, politics, and national identity, providing a nuanced understanding of the region's contested past. It explores the significance of the Germania, a treatise written by Wimpfeling in 1501, which sought to establish the German character of Strasbourg and the Alsace. The author examines the historical context of the work, the arguments put forward by Wimpfeling and his opponents, and the impact of the Germania on the region's subsequent development. This book offers a valuable contribution to the study of medieval history and the complexities of national identity formation. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. …

Condición: Sehr gut. 406 S. Umschlag leicht berieben, sonst gutes Exemplar.
