Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good-. 1st Edition. 255pp., vi. No editions, printings or number line cited; same date on title and CP. Shiny forest green cloth with brilliant gilt lettering on spine, blind-stamped Publisher logo at center front cover. Toned (thin line of light brown) across spine ends and very top of boards and inside top cover edges, with very slightest line of thin brown across rear cover top edge (minimized by strong forest green beneath); very small-to-tiny tip wear at corners and across foot and head of spine;very thn line of diminished green across lower rear cover edge [with corresponding faint green on outside (not inside, except for tiny bit of rear cover lower left corner inside)]: it all describes much worse than it is, but there you have it: binding still tight; corners essentially square. Original taupe dustwrapper with black lettering for title and subtitle across top and upper middle front cover, respectively; Publisher name in black across bottom front cover. Spine browned, but with all lettering in black sharp and distinct, eminently readable; browned across top front cover and down right edge, as with rear cover left edge: would appear that a smaller book on the shelf was adjacent to this copy's front cover, a larger book on the shelf adjacent to its rear cover, given the pattern of browning; 1" closed tear down top edge rear cover near top corner; 1/2" closed tear down top right spine corner, with other small chips and tears at corners: now imperfections backed with archival tape and dw in Brodart mylar which forgives sins kindly. Contributions: Niels Bohr, "Quantum Physics and Biology"; A.W.F. Edwards, "Models in Genetics"; H. Kacser, "Kinetic Models of Development and Heredity"; E.N. Willmer, "Tissues in Culture and in the Body"; J.W.S. Pringle,"Models of Muscle"; R.H.J. Brown, "Mechanical Models in Biology"; J.W.L. Beament, "Physical Models in Biology"; J.H. Williams, "The Problem of Communication in Biological Teaching"; J.E. Harris, "A Review of the Symposium". Despite minor flaws, book is solid, having only Donald Schon's short vertical markings in the final chapter of the book, a review of the Symposium ( i.e., 6 pp. of 255 pp). Donald Schon's name and address at time of acquisition of book are printed in blue ink on ffep and have been ineffectually blacked out with felt-tip pen. A solid copy, despite peccadilloes.…

Stapled. Condición: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. The June & July 1933 issues of The American Magazine. Contains, most notably, parts 4 & 5 of 6 of Thirteen at Dinner (Lord Edgware Dies), an Hercule Poirot mystery by Agatha Christie. Includes an article by General John J Pershing, Shall We Have a Dictator? (6/33), asserting America's democracy will persist as apposed to European tendencies of the time to adopt dictatorships. An interesting proposition when considered against recent events. Additional articles include What! - No Chorus Girls? (7/33), an article by Henry F Pringle on the career of composer Jerome Kern, and Good Listeners are Always in Demand (7/33), and article by poet Archibald Rutledge on the power of silence, and others, Numerous vintage ads. Condition issues include: 6/33 - light edge wear to the front cover with a small loss at the top of the spine; a light crease to the top corner of the pages from page 47 through the end; light edge wear to the back cover with small soil strips along the top, bottom and spine; and 7/33 - light soil and edge wear to the front cover, soiling to the spine with small loss at the bottom; soiling to page 74; a couple of closed tears to the back cover; and a small chip at the bottom that carries through to the last couple of pages. Otherwise the interiors are clean with no missing pages or cutouts. Overall, very good copies of a vintage magazine with installments of a Hercule Poirot mystery. A heavy, oversize set that may require additional postage. Herbert Paus (cover June), J Knowles Hare (cover July), William Trench (Thirteen at Dinner), William Oberhardt (Good Listeners are Always in Demand) (ilustrador).…
