Copy of Merrill Sosman, with his pencil signature "M. C. Sosman, Brigham Hosp." on front flyleaf. ABOUT SOSMAN: "In 1922 Merrill Sosman joined the staff at the Peter B…ent Brigham Hospital. He would later serve as the Chief of Radiology at that institution for 34 years. Sosman had the tremendous good fortune of working with Cushing when the master was at the peak of his career. Sosman, in turn, imparted a stimulus and encouragement for the investigation and publication of the tremendous wealth of clinical cases that were being seen at the Brigham at the time. In the 10 years of their association, until Cushing's retirement, 31 papers on the subject of neuroradiology were produced. . . . The dissemination of this scientific information did a great deal to advance the identity of neuroradiology. When The Harvey Cushing Society was founded in 1931, Sosman was one of only two radiologists admitted as founding members. . ." (Dean J. Gobo, in Greenblatt (ed.), A History of Neurosurgery, pp. 227-28).

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Good. 1st Edition. Tan cloth spine and green paper-covered boards, both with paste-on title labels; 8vo; 139pp; illustrated with 5 plates (3 maps, 2 drawings). This is the 2nd state binding which is limited to 350 numbered ( #329) copies. The 2nd book published by The Anglers' Club of New York. "Eugene V. C…onnett was quoted as saying that American Trout Streams was 'the first book to be published by Derrydale,' though it does not bear the imprint of Connett's famous press." -- ( A Century With the Anglers' Club, 2006). It goes on to say, "This book is scientific in nature, and many of its tenets, espoused in 1926, hold true today." This copy is in good condition with mottling to the cloth covered spine. The spine is darkened with light chipping to the label, not affecting text. There is a bookplate from the American Museum of Natural History Library with inked cancellation notice on the front pastedown. Occasional chipped page edge, otherwise, a decent copy of a hard-to-find title.
