This book chronicles the watershed events that unfolded in the Valais district of Switzerland in 1798â"a pivotal year that saw the region erupt in revolution. The inhabitants of the Valais stubbornly fought to preserve their ancient rights and privileges against the encroachment of French revolutionary forces. The book follows the ebb and flow of this struggle and examines the confluence of external pressures, such as the rise of Napoleon and the French Revolution, and internal factors such as local customs and political divisions, that shaped the course of the Valais revolution. The author delves into the motivations and strategies of both the Valaisian revolutionaries and the French occupiers, shedding light on the complex interplay of power, ideology, and resistance that characterized this period. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Cart. 40)". Entgegen der Darstellung Wilh. Ehrenzellers (Der Sturz Jost's von Silenen u. s. Prozess vor der Kurie, in: Jb. f. Schw. Gesch. (HLS, vgl. HBLS, beide 'Supersaxo') -- Dionys Imesch (Mörel 1868-1947 Sitten), von Zeneggen und Mörel, kath.
