This work documents a dispute between Oliver Cromwell's grandson, also named Oliver, and the tenants of his estate, Merdon Manor in Hursley. The tenants sought to claim their customary historic rights of pasturage and tree felling, among other privileges. The extended and acrimonious lawsuit lasted over fifteen years and ended in victory for the tenants.
