Hardback. Condición: New. A ghostly portrait of an untenanted VeniceIn these stark black-and-white photographs, gallerist and photographer Mario Peliti (born 1958) transforms our perceptions of Venice. All the pictures were taken under the same lighting conditions, with no people. The lack of human presence induces the viewer to reflect on the city's possible fate as a city with no inhabitants.…

Hardcover. A matte red casebound book with white and black text down the spine. Pages: (6), 7-464. Profusely illustrated with black-and-white images. "After six months of renovating works, Palazzo Grassi will reopen to the public on September 5th with 'HYPERVENEZIA', an exhibition specifically dedicated to the city of Venice on the occasion of the 1600th anniversary of its foundation. It presents for the first time to the public the ambitious 'Venice Urban Photo Project', conceived and developed by Mario Peliti. In 2006, Mario Peliti starts to photograph and systematically map the city with the aim to form an archive of images that is the widest and most organic ever created and to offer a unique representation of the entire urban fabric of Venice, in its complexity and continuity. This photography archive currently amounts to 12.000 images, all in black and white, taken under the same lighting conditions, without any shadows and, most of all, in the absence of any human presence. 'HYPERVENEZIA' offers a radical visual experience: the Venice we know disappears to give way to a parallel Venice, an empty and timeless one. From the Serenissima presented in its pure materiality emerges this unsettling strangeness that characterises any city that has been emptied of its inhabitants." VG: Wear to the bottom right corner and a warp towards the base of the spine. Otherwise in excellent condition, with clean pages and tight binding.…

Hardcover. Condición: As New. Trilingual edition (French, Italian, English). Pages: 304 Cartier-Bresson by Cartier-Bresson: the photographer's "master set" survey of his career, presented for the first time alongside selections by Annie Leibovitz, Wim Wenders and others. In the early 1970s, at the request of his friends and collectors John and Dominique Menil, Henri Cartier-Bresson went through the thousands of prints in his archives with the idea of choosing the most important and significant works of his career. He picked 385 photographs, which were printed in a format of 12 x 16 inches at his most trusted laboratory in Paris between 1972 and 1973, in five copies each. This so-called "Master Set" has never before been published in its entirety. Now, photographer Annie Leibovitz, film director Wim Wenders, writer Javier Cercas, chief curator of the Department of Prints and Photographs at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France Sylvie Aubenas and collector François Pinault have been invited to each choose roughly 50 pictures from this Master Set. Through their selection, each of them shares a personal vision of the work of this great artist. Henri Cartier-Bresson: Le Grand Jeu is divided into two parts: the first presents the personal choice of each of the curators, accompanied by a text written for the occasion; the second presents the whole of the Master Set as it was assembled by Cartier-Bresson. This unprecedented volume thus constitutes the most personal, and indeed the most authoritative, panorama of his oeuvre yet published.
