"Wells, Glastonbury & Cleeve" by Edward Foord, was issued in the "Cathedrals, Abbeys & Famous churches" series, (Edited by Gordon Home), and published by J. M. Dent and Sons in London in 1925. In format is a handsome little paperback, illustrated with plate halftone photographs and line drawings (integral with the text). There is also a ground-plan of Wells Cathedral. The book has seen good use, and reflects that usage, but remains clean and serviceable. SERIES : Cathedrals, Abbeys & Famous Churches SERIES EDITOR : Gordon Home (1878 - 1969) TITLE : Wells, Glastonbury & Cleeve AUTHOR : Edward Foord IMPRINT : J. M. Dent & Sons PLACE : London DATE : 1925 EDITION : First Paperback Printing (Published simultaneously with the hardcover) STATUS : Out of Print - OP DETAILS : Trade paperback; contain numerous halftone plate photographs and line drawings (placed integral with the text; contains a Preface by Gordon Home; has a Chronology and an Index; 192 pages; 4 3/8" x 6 1/2", pictorial wraps, sewn (stiff card stock); pictorial end-papers present general architectural details. CONDITION -- GOOD PLUS -- This is a previously owned book that has seen considerable use, but which remains clean and serviceable, with the following particulars noted : EXTERIOR -- Spine is faded; spine surface has creasing; spine extremities area bit ragged (most noticeable at the foot), and, at the foot is a vague stain; joints are slightly nicked at their extremities; covers have modest surface rub and a few scattered small scuffs - on the front at the fore-edge is a small discoloration; edges display small nicks and dents; corner tips are bumped and there is overall a shallow creasing (most noticeable on rear cover); text-block edges are toned and display small impact denting, else clear. BINDING -- Overall somewhat lax : the leaves open widely - the book displays it usage - however, no leaves are detached or loose. INTERIOR -- There are various small smudges or spots; some of the leaves are creased at the top fore-edge corner tips; no writing, marking or marginalia. No signatures. The interesting text and arresting pictures throughout warrant a gentle eye against usage.
