The book was originally published in hardback by Hamish Hamilton in 1934. With a four-page Introduction by G. K. Chesterton. ***Very good in the iconic Penguin designed cobalt blue and white card covers used for biographies. The covers have some marks and creasing commensurate with age and handling. However, the fragile binding is tight and there is no reading lean, and the covers are generally clean and bright. Spine tight. There is a small closed tear to the top edge of the back cover near the spine (please see scans). Internally the book is also very good, with no previous ownership inscriptions. The interior pages are clean, but please note that a previous owner has turned over a number of the top corners as place markers. The paper stock has tanned slightly with age.
