Sandy Herd (1868-1944) was the club professional at Huddersfield Golf Club from 1892 to 1911. In 1902, he narrowly won the Open at Hoylake, beating Harry Vardon and James Braid at the final hole. He was the first Open Champion to use the Haskell rubber cored ball. First Edition. 8vo. vii + 246pp. Portrait frontis., 17 plates. Or…iginal green cloth, gilt title to spine. A very good copy.
