Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the political landscape and religious power dynamics in 13th century Europe during a period known as the Great Interregnum or Interregnum. The Holy Roman Empire was left without an emperor for over two decades following the death of Frederick II in 1250. During this time, the papacy, led by a series of influential popes, attempted to assert greater control over secular affairs. The author examines the complex interplay between the papacy and various claimants to the imperial throne, including the Hohenstaufen and Welf factions, as well as the role of regional powers like France and England. The book also sheds light on the social and economic conditions of the time, providing a comprehensive analysis of a tumultuous period in European history. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
