As a founder member of the Saintsbury Club, Healy, an Irish lawyer, author and raconteur, brings together a wealth of experience and anecdotes about a wide range of wines. 262 pages printed and bound on red boards with grape design to centre of front board. Front boards have age-related rubs and marks, as do the top of the rear boards. Fox-marks to some page ends. Two former owners' names are in pen to the right hand side of the f.e.p. with dates (1951 and 1976). There is a tear to the bottom of the first pages (pg. 9/10) and 2 annotation pen marks to pg. 62. Throughout the text there are occasional, inserted annotations, in italics, by Colonel Ian Campbell, a close friend of Healy's. Overall, the book is deemed to be in Good-minus condition and is tidy, notwithstanding the annotations, with a tight binding. The contents are organised over 20 sections, 'topped and tailed' with a Memoir by Sir Norman Birkett and an Appendix with two humorous poems, titled 'The Liquor of Bray' and 'The Chateau Mille-Secousses'. 8vo.
