Er stellt ein Leitbild für die lang fristige bauliche Entwicklung vor und zeigt am Beis…piel konkreter Projekte, wie die ursprüngliche Lesbarkeit und räumliche Qualität des Hauses durch Um- und Rückbauten in bestimmten Kernbereichen wiederhergestellt werden können.Im Hauptgebäude der ETH Zürich überlagern und widersprechen sich die Bau- und Lehrkonzepte dreier Architekten- und Hochschullehrergenerationen, vom Semperbau über Gulls Polytechnikum bis hin zu Charles-Edouard Geisendorfs Umbauten der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts. Räume, Raumfolgen, Belichtung, Erschließung und Oberflächen sind derzeit durch die Verdichtungen der 1960er- und 1970er-Jahre bestimmt. Angesichts unterschiedlicher Ansprüche, die künftig an das Hauptgebäude gestellt werden, sind kurz-, mittel- und langfristige Strategien zur Bewahrung und Wiederherstellung von Qualitäten im heterogenen Bestand notwendig. Unter der Leitung von Uta Hassler wurden dazu Projekte für Kernbereiche des »Poly« Treppen, Korridore, Kuppelsaal, Räume der Schulleitung, Aula - entworfen und teilweise umgesetzt. 360 pp. Deutsch.
