Añadir al carritoTrade Paperback. Condición: Very Good. No Jacket. [Don E. Kash, Irvin L. White, Karl H. Bergey, Michael A. Chartock, Michael D. Devine, R. Leon Leonard, Stephen N. Salomon, and Harold W. Young / Energy Under the Oceans : A Technology Assessment of Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Operations] {University of Oklahoma Press; Norman; 1973; Trade Paperback; Very Good/No Jacket; 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.} Covers rubbed, slightly soiled; front cover has small crease at tail corner; tail edge slightly soiled. Interior clean and unmarked. Stated First Edition. "At the present time, say the authors of this book, oil and gas account for almost 70 per cent of total energy consumption, but supplies are dwindling. One of the most important sources of significant quantities of oil and gas is the outer continental shelf, but critics view its development as involving excessive environmental risks. This assessment of outer continental shelf oil and gas operations was undertaken by an interdisciplinary team--two political scientists, three engineers, a marine biologist, a physicist, and a lawyer. It was conducted under the aegis of the Science and Public Policy Program of the University of Oklahoma through a grant from the National Science Foundation. After examining the development of outer continental shelf oil and gas resources and how policies are currently established, the authors turn their attention to topics such as the adequacy of present technologies, the quality of environment and environmental control, government management, and the question of jurisdiction--federal and state. Perhaps most important are their recommendations regarding government policy and administration, industry management, and technologies which will contribute to optimal resources development and still respond to broad social concerns." Añadir al carritoPaperback, folded chapbook. Condición: Very Good. No Dust Jacket. 24 page booklet, staple bound, reprinted edition. Good clean condition. Pictorial. Paperback : soft cover edition in very good clean condition, a typical used book with some slight wear to edges and spine. Firmly readable. As to be expected with used books, there may be some minor bumping, creases, and/or scuffs. Overall a good copy. We appreciate your consideration of one of our books, art prints or novelty items. ~ About the movement: Provincetown Printers was an art colony in Provincetown, Massachusetts during the early 20th-century of artists who created art using woodblock printing techniques. It was the first group of its kind in the United States, developed in an area when European and American avant-garde artists visited in number after World War I. The "Provincetown Print", a white-line woodcut print, was attributed to this group. Bror Julius Olsson Nordfeldt is credited with developing the technique, based upon Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock printing, though there is evidence that a lesser-known Provincetown artist, Edith Lake Wilkinson, was making white-line prints in 1914, a year earlier than Nordfeldt's first known efforts. Blanche Lazzell is said to have mastered the technique. Rather than creating separate woodblocks for each color, one block was made and painted. Small groves between the elements of the design created the white line.[2] Because the artists often used soft colors, they sometimes have the appearance of a watercolor painting. Agnes Weinrich, Broken Fence, a white-line woodblock made in or before 1917; at left: the woodblock itself; at right: a print pulled from the woodblook. Early artists in the group included Ethel Mars, Ada Gilmore, Mildred McMillen, Maud Hunt Squire, Juliette Nichols and Bror Julius Olsson Nordfeldt. Other artists included William Zorach, Ferol Sibley Warthen, Blanche Lazzell, Karl Knaths, and Agnes Weinrich. Edna Boies Hopkins, a friend of Squires and Mars from the Art Academy of Cincinnati, also visited the community. ~ We strive to offer fast, courteous and professional service to all our patrons. Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. Reprint. This copy SIGNED by Harold Blair, along with three others. The ink inscription appears on the ffep: "To Mrs G.J. Ebbels. Commemorating the first C.E.H.A. concert in Wangaratta on Tuesday July 22nd 1947. From - [then signed by all four] - Harold Blair, Douglas R. Whittaker, Donald F. White, John Lloyd". Harold Blair AM (1924-1976) was an Australian tenor and Aboriginal activist. "He entered the Melba Conservatorium in Melbourne in 1945 and earned a Diploma of Music with honours in 1949. In 1950, Blair was invited to study in the United States by the noted African-American singer Todd Duncan. Blair studied at the Juilliard School, New York. While in New York he sang in a church in Harlem, and entered into the community life. He was impressed how people of all races participated at all levels of society. In 1951 the Australian Broadcasting Commission offered Blair a three-year singing contract, commencing with an extensive tour. By the end of the tour he had lost his voice. Breaking the contract, he was prohibited from singing professionally for three years. Discouraged, Blair sought other work including working for a hardware store. He expressed an interest in education and was taken on as a teacher at Ringwood Technical School. He later became a teacher at the Conservatorium in Melbourne, and served on the Aboriginal Arts Board. Blair continued to act for Aboriginal rights all his life. He joined the Aborigines Advancement League in its early days and later the Federal Council for the Advancement of Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders. Watching an Aboriginal marching girls group at Moomba in 1962 led Blair to establish the Aboriginal Children's Holiday Project, and he was an early member of the Aborigines Welfare Board in Victoria. He stood as a candidate for the Australian Labor Party for a seat in the Victorian Parliament against the then Minister for Aboriginal Affairs. Blair was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the Australia Day Honours of 1976." Wangaratta is a town located in country Victoria. With double-page b&w photographic frontispiece. Printed in Great Britain. Bound in publisher's original blue cloth with black lettering to spine. No dustjacket.
