The hot arid region experiences an annual rainfall between 200 and 350 mm. It comes under the influence of subtropical high pressure belt extending from northwest Africa to Asia. Despite hostile conditions, the western arid Rajasthan supports a large human and livestock population and a variety of flora and fauna.
