This is a typescript collection of stories and how-to instructions on prospecting for uranium, gold, silver, etc. in the Southwestern United States (particularly California). The 1st 4 pages have blue, green & red drawings of a Cactus family relating autobiographical info on the author. The text is integrated around these drawings. Coon was originally from the copper mining town of Hancock, Michigan in the late 1800s, he moved "west" in 1902. I could not locate any more info on him, except that there are 2 post cards included. One is from the U.S. Army stating Coon is a "explosive ordance reconnaissance agent" and another addressed to him as Chief of the Maywood, California fire dept. (dated 1960). Most likely a unique item. 18 x 26cm. Hard cover. Approx. 250pp.
