Weldon, an officer with the Royal Regiment of Artillery, wishes to draw attention to the role of the anti-aircraft batteries which bore the brunt of the three-year siege during which the Luftwaffe and the Italian air force tried and failed to break the will to resist by the vital Mediterranean island base.
