The volume traces the origins of the 5th (Royal Irish) Dragoons from their formation in 1689, through their disbandment at the close of the eighteenth century, and reconstitution as the 5th Royal Irish Lancers in 1858, concluding with their disbandment following Irish independence in 1921.
