Soft cover. Condición: Good. Softcover with blue and white wraps, front cover advertising Dunlop tires. Two small spots of white paint on front, each has been colored in by former owner to match the cover itself, otherwise just minor shelf wear to wraps. Formerly staplebound, staples appear to have been removed at some point (but are evidenced by small, nondisruptive spots of rusting) and the volume was reconstructed with a strong, careful tape binding. Hardcover. Condición: Good. Hardcover. 4to. Sampson, Low and Marston, London, UK. 1940. 300 pgs. Illustrated with Black and White Plates. Bound in cloth boards with gilt titles present. Boards have shelf-wear present to the extremities. No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. It is all that can be expected of the Jane's yearlies at the close of WW2. It covers the Allies well, as good a job as probably could have been done for their enemies, and good coverage of the neutrals. The quality of the photos leaves something to be desired, many look as if this volume was done by scanning the original pages with a pixal-ly deficient copier. On the other hand, it has reasonable views of such well known aircraft as the Gotha Go345 transport, the Faucett F-19 and the Swedish J-22. There is also a good section on the world's aircraft engines. As is well known, the secret to designing a good plane is to start with a good powerplant. It is much easier to understand the aircraft if one knows something about the engines. The descriptions here are very useful. E-068; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 300 pages. …

Cloth. Condición: Good. First Edition. London, Sampson Low, Marston & Co, 1919. First edition. Landscape octavo. [102], 18pp, 490pp, 154pp, 37pp. Numerous photographic vignette illustrations throughout the text. 102 pages of advertisements precede the main text. Each section of the text (All the World's Aeroplanes, All the World's Aero-Engines and All the World's Airships) with separate paginations. As is standard 'Jane's' format, the text is sectioned by country in alphabetical order. A very detailed overview of the world's aircraft immediately after the First World War. Hundreds of examples of military aircraft are described but most striking in comparison to the 1918 edition, is the inclusion of a wide variety of civilian and passenger aircraft, illustrating how quickly the wartime aviation industry turned its hand to civilian aviation. Bound in the original publisher's blue cloth, lettered in silver on the front cover and spine. Moderate 'bubbling' to the cloth covering on the front and rear covers. The top and bottom of the spine are a little bumped and the corners are slightly worn. Otherwise, a clean copy with the text block sound and the binding in good condition. Cloth. Condición: Good. First Edition. London, Sampson Low, Marston & Co, 1918. First edition. Landscape octavo. [110], 24pp, 308pp, 24pp, 76pp, 105pp, 14pp. Numerous photographic vignette illustrations throughout the text. Occasionally extra-illustrated with a number of coloured post cards and other coloured illustrations presumably cut from books depicting specific aircraft, pasted onto the margins of the pages where those aircraft are described. 110 pages of advertisements precede the main text. Each section of the text (An Aeronautical Dictionary and Memoranda, Aeroplanes of the World, Airships of the World, Aero-Engines of the World and Historical Aeroplanes of the Last Fourteen Years) with separate paginations. As is standard 'Jane's' format, the text is sectioned by country in alphabetical order. A very detailed overview of the world's aircraft 4 years into the First World War, encompassing 4 years of continued technical innovation in their military use. Bound in the original publisher's blue cloth, lettered in silver on the front cover and spine. Minor loss to the lettering on the front cover and with all of the lettering on the spine now missing. Moderate 'bubbling' and some creasing to the cloth covering on the front and rear covers. Hinges a little rubbed and the top of the spine slightly frayed and torn. First 2 pages of advertisements chipped at their foredges and with the first page of advertisements crudely glued to the verso of the front cover at its gutter edge. Otherwise, a clean copy with the text block sound and the binding in good condition. Further photographs available on request.
