Condición: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - The study was initiated to investigate thefeasibility of using CFB ash as a soil amendmentusing some of the lime-based minerals in the residueas a substitute for limestone. The CFB ash, typicalof ash from high sulphur coal-fired fluidized bedcombustors, was found to be an acceptable limingagent for vegetable crops and mixed forage, with nosignificant adverse effects on crop quality orexcessive soil loading of metals. Two years oftesting on turfgrass indicates that CFB ash may alsobe used as a fast-acting limestone substitute onturfs. Within the first year, ash applied at the soillime requirement increased very low soil pH to arange considered optimal for nutrient availabilityand crop growth. A high persistence of liming effectsin both ash and limestone treatments suggests thatthe materials have comparable residual activity. Thisresearch is of interest to agrologists, wastemanagement specialists and policy makers.
