Wesentliche Erkenntnisse und Hintergrundinformationen aus diesem Forschungsaufenthalt sind in die vorliegende Studie eingegangen. Der erste Teil befaßt sich mit wirtschaftlich-planerischen Grundlagen der ASEANLänder. Im zweiten Teil werden Fragen der mineralischen Rohstoffwirtschaft behandelt, und der dritte Teil beschäftigt sich mit den Investitionsbedingungen dieser Länder für ausländische Investoren. Das Ziel der vorliegenden Untersuchung besteht vor allem darin, in den drei Sachkomplexen empirische Daten und erkennbare Trends zu vermitteln sowie entwicklungsstrategische Prioritäten und Zusammenhänge zu verdeutlichen. Dabei haben die Verfasser den Versuch unternommen, die fünf ASEAN-Länder im Rahmen einer ländervergleichenden Analyse auch als Teile einer Wirtschafts- und Entwicklungsregion zu kennzeichnen. Angesichts der relativ kurzen Bearbeitungszeit und der Materialfülle konnte das weite Spektrum der Themenbereiche in einem ersten Anlauf noch nicht in abschließender Weise behandelt werden.
