Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - 'A History of Europe 1500-1815' provides a comprehensive and scholarly exploration of the transformative centuries that shaped the modern Western world. Written by Dr. James Edward Gillespie, this work delivers a detailed narrative of the political, social, and cultural evolutions occurring from the height of the Renaissance through the conclusion of the Napoleonic era.The text meticulously examines the major movements that redefined the continent, including the Protestant Reformation, the rise of the nation-state, the expansion of global colonial empires, and the profound intellectual shifts of the Enlightenment. By tracing the development of major European powers and their intricate diplomatic and military interactions, Gillespie offers readers a clear understanding of the historical forces that culminated in the French Revolution and the subsequent reorganization of Europe at the Congress of Vienna.'A History of Europe 1500-1815' serves as an essential resource for understanding a period marked by profound discovery, intense religious conflict, and the birth of modern political ideologies. It remains a valuable contribution to historical scholarship, bridging the gap between the medieval world and the modern age through rigorous analysis and a focus on the structural changes of European society. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. This work was reproduced from the original artifact, and remains as true to the original work as possible. Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. James Edward Gillespie, Europe in Perspective: 1815 to the Present. New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1943 (copyright 1942). First edition (title-page date 1943), cloth-bound, octavo, with the large folding colour map of Europe (Present Economic Resources of Europe) present. A substantial, well-preserved classroom/reading copy in blue cloth with pictorial paper labels to the front board and spine. The book offers a concise, mid-20th-century survey of European political and economic developments since 1815, illustrated with charts and a large folding economic map. Physically this copy is unusually clean for a wartime-era school/office book: the cloth is bright with only minor rubbing to corners and light bumping to spine ends; paper labels show modest edge wear with small chips; pages are complete and mostly clean with uniform age-toning to the text block edges. The large folding map is intact and clean, and all gatherings are secure. Condition & provenance: Very Good+ / Near Fine overall for the binding; no dust jacket was issued. Interior shows a red 'PROPERTY OF U.S. GOVERNMENT' stamp on the front endpaper and a penciled ownership block above a pencil signature (see photos). Inscription reads: 'A. Reuter, PFC, Co. F, Barr. 12, K-I House, 150 Langdon St., A.S.T.P., U. of Wis.' - identifying a Private First Class assigned to the Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP) at the University of Wisconsin (Madison). Minor margin creasing to a few leaves and trivial corner wear; hinges sound, text complete, no markings that affect legibility. Edition/Printing determination: The book carries a 1942 copyright and a 1943 title-page date; this is offered as a first edition, 1943 (first printing), consistent with publisher practice of the period.…
