Ein Werk- und Werbefilm der Bauerschen Gießerei, Frankfurt am Main 1927. Rotbraune, goldgerahmte Orig.-Broschur mit Deckel-Monogramm u. Fadenheftung. 32 nn. Seiten mit zahlreichen, teils ganzs. S/w-Fotografien. - 15,5 x 10,5. * Erstausgabe. - "Gesetzt aus der Weiß-Fraktur und Manuskript-Gotisch der Bauerschen Gießerei. Die Druckstöcke wurden in der chemigraphische Anstalt der Firma angefertigt, den Druck besorgte die Hausdruckerei." - Die Bauersche Gießerei gehört zu den großen Namen in der Welt der Schriftkunst - und ihre Wurzeln liegen mitten in Frankfurt-Bockenheim. 1837 von Johann Christian Bauer gegründet, zog das Unternehmen 1872 nach Bockenheim. Von hier aus nahm es maßgeblichen Einfluss auf die Entwicklung der Typografie des 20. Jahrhunderts und machte Frankfurt weit über die Stadtgrenzen hinaus bekannt. In Ffm.-Bockenheim entstanden einige der berühmtesten Schriften, die bis heute weltweit verwendet werden: Bauer-Bodoni, Bernhard-Antiqua, Folio, Futura, Impressum und Weiß-Antiqua. Besonders die Futura, entworfen 1927 von Paul Renner, gilt als eine der einflussreichsten Schriften des 20. Jahrhunderts - sie prägte Drucksachen, Werbung und sogar die Typografie der NASA-Weltraum-Missionen. - Vorsatzblätter minimal stockfleckig; innen sauber und gut erhalten !

Folder , split along spine, titled in black with pictorial device, , containing upwards of twenty very handsomely printed samples and type specimen sheets. Internally in fine condition. Imprimatur was designed by K.F. Bauer and Walter Braun. It is a narrow roman combining several older alphabet in its design. The letters, with not very pronounced serifs, come to give an even grey when formed into words. L, P. E, B, ans S are very narrow.

No dust Jacket (as issued). Cover: spiral bound card covers with black and white image (photo) and white lettering to front and plain white card with black lettered publication details to rear; clean and bright for its age; some rubbing and bumping to all edges and corners, some loss of photo at corners but underlying card intact; both front and back card covers and title page have become detached from spiral binding but all present; overall good for a 85 year old spiral bound publication. Internally: remainder of text block (apart from title page) very clean and tightly spiral bound; very neat initials from previous owner to title page and first page of text; no other markings or book plates; some slight bumping to page corners and darkening to page edges but really remarkably good for a document of this age. Illustrated throughout in colour and black and white. Unpaginated. Landscape format.
