Text Englis…h and Japanese. Colour and b/w photographic illustrations throughout. Dust jacket with a little rubbing and wear to edges, with original removable plastic protector. Hardback binding very good; contents clean and tight, no inscriptions, unmarked. Original cardboard slipcase worn. 'The Indo-Japanese Botanical Expedition was sent to Sikkim and the Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts in spring of 1960, sponsored by the University of Tokyo and the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeonbotany., Lucknow. It has long been known that the flora of this region is very rich and similar to that of Japan. So the main objective of our exhibition is to make more clear the botanical relationship between the region and Japan.' [Prof. William Stearn "doyen of British botanists" who wrote c. 500 papers and books, including the classic "Botanical Latin".
