Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book traces the manifold routes of discovery through which the world surged into the Americas, and ultimately the Pacific Northwest. The author explores the narratives of Christopher Columbus, Vasco Núñez de Balboa, and Ferdinand Magellan, each of whom unlocked progressively wider gateways into the unknown. The book then chronicles the subsequent voyages and expeditions that incrementally detailed our geography. However, this book's scope extends beyond the documentation of physical discovery. The author delves into the inevitable conflicts between indigenous populations and the encroaching tide of European exploration and settlement, the germination of rivalry between Spain and England for control of the region, and the eventual transfer of that conflict to the emergent United States. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
