Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the theory of turbines and the dynamics of water passing through them. By investigating the relationship between the different parts of a turbine, the author provides a more comprehensive look at how they operate. This volume starts with the basics and progresses to more complex topics. One of the most important aspects of turbines is the loss of energy that occurs as water flows through them. The book begins by examining losses that occur in a turbine, which can account for various inefficiencies, and establishes a universal formula for calculating these losses. It also discusses the three main areas where energy loss can occur: the guide vane, the impeller, and the draft tube. Understanding these losses is vital for maximizing a turbine's efficiency. The second part of this text concerns the flow of water through the guide vanes of the turbine. By calculating the forces acting on the water as it flows through the guide vanes, the author determines the optimal shape and angle for these vanes. It is noted that the force exerted on the water by the guide vanes is essentially what drives the turbine. Additionally, the author measures the efficiency and effectiveness of the turbine at different guide vane settings. This is an essential consideration for real-world applications, as the efficiency of a turbine can vary greatly depending on the amount of water flowing through it. These insights make for a valuable addition to the field of turbine research and provide a helpful reference for engineers working with them. Overall, the book provides a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of water turbines, making it a useful resource for engineers and anyone else interested in the subject.
