Añadir al carritoCloth. Condición: Very Good. First edition. The 1843 edition of Shoberl's popular, illustrated, literary annual. First edition. The 1843 edition. In the publisher's original red cloth binding. Illustrated with a frontispiece, presentation plate, vignette title page and nine further monochrome plates. Collated, complete. The 1843… edition of the popular literary annual edited by prominent journalist Frederic Shoberl, best known for the present work. First appearing in 1823, Forget Me Not is significant as the first English annual of its type, inspired by the ideas brought by publisher Rudolph Ackermann from Germany. Aimed primarily at female readers, each issue contained a range of poems, stories and essays, accompanied by charming engravings, this particular copy including contributions from the likes of Hannah Flagg Gould, Charles Swain and James Montgomery. In the publisher's original red cloth binding. Torn and obscured book plate to the front paste down, accompanied by the smaller plate of J B & H Hamilton's Circulating Library. Externally, smart with slight bumping and rubbing, leading to minor loss of cloth, most noticeably to the front joint but also to the spine head and tail, which also feature a few small tears. Boards lightly marked and discoloured. Internally, generally firmly bound, with only slight weakness towards the centre of the text, namely between pages 195 and 207. A bright and clean edition with the occasional spot, notably heavier to the first and last few pages and particularly to the presentation plate. Very Good. T. T. Bury; Cochran; Hollis; E. Corbould; E. Finden; Franklin; H. Corbould; R. Farrier; Wright; I. Tillotson (ilustrador). book.

Añadir al carritoNo Binding. Condición: Collectible-Fine. Original black and white portrait photograph that shows Frederic Franklin wearing a white sweater in a seated pose looking a little to his right. No date, circa 1940s. 8" x 10 1/4." Signed by Frederic Franklin on front in blue ink with a brief inscription addressed to Eleanor Morgan: "For… Miss Eleanor Morgan, Very best wishes, Frederic Franklin." Professional imprint of photographer Maurice Seymour on front. Photograph is very clean and intact. A fine copy. Frederic Franklin (1914-2013) was a British-American ballet dancer, choreographer, and director who had a successful career with many ballet companies and was known as a quick study and had exceptional memory. Franklin danced with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo from 1937-1951. He was the company's ballet master from 1944-1952 and was also the premier danseur until his departure in 1951 (he rejoined later until its final closing in 1968). In 1952, Franklin co-founded the Slavenska-Franklin Ballet with fellow dancer Mia Slavenska. Their company had twenty-one dancers and Alexandra Danilova joined as a co-star. They toured Japan and the Philippines, but within two years, the company closed and Danilova traveled to Dallas, Texas to teach and then went back to New York. Franklin went on as an advisor and a director for different American ballet companies such as the National Ballet of Washington, D.C. and the American Ballet Theatre. Inscribed by Author(s).
